Year 4s share their learning with Prep to Year 2s

Angela Sharp, Year 4 Classroom Teacher

On Friday 11 November, we invited the Prep to Year 2s into the Year 4 classrooms to share our learning on Africa with them.

The Year 4s had created biomes and a travel brochure of a selected country in Africa. We were also lucky enough to share our learning with Mr French and Mr Collins.

Years 5 and 6 cross-curricular excursion between French and Visual Arts

Jessica Tham, Art and Year 9 Program Teacher

On Tuesday 15 November, our Years 5 and 6 students attended a cross-curricular excursion between French and Visual Arts to The Lume to see the ‘Monet and Friends’ exhibition.

Students immersed themselves in this multi-sensory interactive experience that allowed them to engage and view the Impressionist artworks throughout the 19th Century in a fresh and modern take.

The exhibition allowed students to dance along with Degas’ ballerinas, smell the flowers in Monet’s Garden and be surrounded by the artistic city of Paris through projections, animations and music.

Year 8 'Our Sustainable World' incursion

Louise Macfarlane, Science Teacher

As part of their 'Our Sustainable World' program, Year 8s recently had an exciting science incursion called the 'Ecological Tipping Point'.

The incursion taught students about the interrelated nature of ecosystems and suggested solutions to threats to ecosystems.

This was part of the STELR activities students have been in involved in. STELR (Science and Technology Education Leveraging Relevance) is a national initiative of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.

Some of the STELR topics that the students have been exploring include wind power experiments, energy transformations and electricity generation.
