Term 1 Week 4 2023 

What have we been up to? 

In Literacy, the students have continued to build their knowledge on narratives. The students have begun to plan and write their narratives independently. It has been fantastic to see their creative writing skills. 

In Maths, students are continuing to look at the place-value concept,  where they have been partitioning, rearranging and regrouping numbers to at least tens of thousands. We have been having lots of fun using MAB blocks, charts, dice and cards to support our learning.

In inquiry, students have started their Civics and Citizenship unit of work. Students described cultural, religious and/or social groups to which they and others in the community may belong. The students have created some wonderful ‘I belong’ posters to add to their leadership binders.

What’s coming up?

Literacy

Throughout the next couple of weeks, Students will begin to plan and write persuasive texts.

Numeracy

Students will be focusing on the connection between addition and subtraction. 

Science & Inquiry

In Science, we will start our Physical Science unit. Students will continue to learn about different types of forces such as frictional force, tension force, normal force, air resistance force, applied force and spring force. In Inquiry, Students will continue to learn about different cultural backgrounds, religious and social groups leading to an appreciation that as Australians we come from many different cultural backgrounds.

Important reminders:

• Please don’t forget to bring in your hats and water bottles as we have had and will be having more hot days. 
• If you have not bought any school supplies yet, please make sure you purchase them through our school supplier, KAKA Kids School Supplies.
• Spelling homework has started. Each week on Monday, students will bring home their spelling homework. We ask that each night students complete a look, say, cover, write, check for their 8 chosen words. Please have students bring in their homework folder every Friday.
