CARNAVAL FRANCAIS - MARDI GRAS

TUESDAY 28th FEBRUARY

Bonjour BPS Families,

On Tuesday 28th February, BPS will be celebrating Mardi Gras (Carnaval Français).

To celebrate and learn at BPS, we have Carrousel Theatre coming to perform a bilingual puppet show, 'Aladdin and the Magic Lamp' (Aladin et La Lampe Magique). They willbe performing to all  students from Prep to Grade 6.

So as a school community we are asking all students to come dressed as a character from the classic tale of Aladdin if possible. Otherwise wear something colourful or any fancy dress costume!

Mardi Gras official colours are jaune (yellow) vert (green) and violet (purple).

Disguise yourself with a mask! Be someone different for a day!

Mardi Gras is celebrated in France as part of Lent: a religious tradition marking 40 days before Easter. It also ties in with Spring festivals in Europe and is an important time to set goals for the new year ahead. Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) or Pancake Day is also a time to have fun and eat lots of  treats.

Remember to have fun and dress-up for a day!

So BPS let's celebrate our French Language and Culture Program with Mardi Gras!

NB: Masks will be provided at school.
