From Principal Steve - BPS School Council Elections 2023

Dear parents and carers,

Each year, we hold school council elections at Brighton Primary School during term 1. This year, we have four parent vacancies on the school council, and we are fortunate that six parents have submitted self-nomination forms for these four parent vacancies. I have attached a brief statement about the six candidates outlining their background, several reasons why they would like to join the school council and the skills / attributes / contributions they would bring to the school.

On behalf of the school community, I extend my gratitude and sincere appreciation to our six nominees - Melissa Mohan, Clint Miller, Jess Groszek, Aaron Stead, Emma Oliver, and Michelle Gibson – who have put themselves forward to serve on the school council for the next two years.

To cast your vote, you must:

  •  Tick the four boxes beside the name of your preferred candidates. Please note: your vote will be invalid if you vote for more than four candidates.
  •  Place the completed ballot paper(s) in the blank envelope(s) marked ‘election’ with your voter’s name and address written on the back and either;
  1. Visit the office between 8:30am and 4:30pm on any school day, including the day of the closure of the ballot and place the envelope containing the completed ballot paper(s) in the ballot box in the front office or in the ballot box located at Grounds Cafe between 8:00-11:00 am daily OR
  2. Place the ‘election’ envelopes in the second plain/postal envelope and post it to reach the principal,

 Before closure of the ballot at 4:00 pm on Wednesday 8th March 2023

Tomorrow, students will bring home an envelope containing two parent/carer ballot papers – one ballot paper for each parent/ carer – as well as a hardcopy of the profile statements written by these six candidates nominated for school council. I would ask that parents read the candidate statements carefully and then complete the associated parent ballot paper.

Lastly, on behalf of Brighton Primary School, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution that our outgoing school council member, Garrick Rollason has made to our school as treasurer over four years. Garrick, thank you very much for your outstanding contribution to our school.
