Foundation
We have been so impressed by the way our Foundation students have settled in during the start of the school year! They have done a great job learning new routines, meeting new teachers, and making friends here at school. Students are increasingly confident with daily routines and have started exploring phonemes in Literacy! So far, we have explored /s/, /a/ and /t/. Students have also been investigating the topic of families, describing who is in their family with a range of vocabulary.
Students participate in a range of lessons and subjects throughout the school week. We have included timetables for both classes here to help students know what to expect each day and help discussion about their day after school.
A big thank you to families for all of their support and communication throughout the transition process. We are very excited for the year ahead!
Visual Art
We have had a wonderful start to the year, the students have been really settled and enthusiastic. The senior students have been learning about cubism and are creating a portrait painting using this style. The cubism portraits are of the Teesdale Leadership Team and the students are delighted with their art pieces. The juniors are looking at fables and fairy tales and we have read the story of Peter Rabbit. The students are sketching a scene from the story and we will use watercolours to complete their art pieces this week. Late last year all the junior students worked hard to make decorative owls and a tree for them to live in. The owls are now displayed in the foyer of the office. It looks fantastic. Well done juniors!
