There will be no sports rotations for Primary students this week due to the swimming carnival on Wednesday 15 February. The sports rotations will continue again next week.
Year 3-10 Swimming carnival
On Wednesday, 15 February children from Year 3-10 will be participating in the annual School Swimming Carnival at the Inverell Town Pool. The students will be transported down by bus at approximately 9:15am and sit in stage groups for the day.
Cost is $3.40 per child or season passes may be used. Children are asked to bring sunscreen, protective clothing (hats, swim shirt and goggles), towel and a water bottle. All items need to be labelled with their names, including socks and underwear. Children need to come to school ready to swim and should wear full sports uniform over the top of their swimmers. House colours and zinc may be worn, but no coloured hairspray or streamers (Johns – yellow, Marks – red, Paul’s – blue, Leos – Green). Students are not permitted in the baby pool at any time.
On the swimming carnival day students should bring lunch and snack foods. They may order their lunch from the school canteen and these will be delivered to the pool around 12:00pm. The pool will also have a canteen operating during the day for snacks, however, students will only have limited access. Parents are welcome to spectate on the day, but students need to sit in their House groups.
At the carnival the children can participate in 25m or 50m strokes and 100m events (freestyle only). Students can only enter in either a 25m or 50m race in the same stroke/event. The 25m races are non-competitive and students are not eligible to progress to the next level if they compete in 25m events. It is hoped that every child will enter in at least 2 events. All permission notes and entry forms were due back last Wednesday.
Diocesan Swimming Carnival
