YR 3-6 CPR AWARENESS PROGRAM

On Thursday students in Yr 3-6 will be took part in a Royal Life Saving CPR Awareness program facilitated by qualified instructor, Cameron McFarlane. The students gained valuable knowledge in performing effective C P R. As educators we believe it is imperative that every child be given the opportunity to learn this vital skill and have the knowledge to perform effective CPR, both around water and in the general community. The program also ensures all students have a sound understanding and knowledge on how to perform an emergency response plan in a time of need. The students were given instruction on the Royal Life Saving CPR protocol chart step by step whilst demonstrating and all students performed CPR on infant, child and adult mannequins and were shown how to place someone in the recovery position.

Over the past 10 years Mr McFarlane  has delivered to many Primary Schools and in  August or September he will reach 50,000 students that he has educated. What an amazing achievement this will be!

STAFF FIRST AID, CPR & ANAPHYLAXIS COURSE

On Thursday afternoon Cameron stayed behind to facilitate the staff First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis Course in which all staff participated in.

This training provided staff with the knowledge and skills required to administer first aid to a person in case of sudden illness or injury at school, in a home or community setting until professional medical help arrives.  This course has given us the confidence and know-how to respond appropriately and minimise harm or even save a life. The practical elements of the course consolidated our prior theory learning by guiding us through a series of realistic and practical scenarios, using the latest equipment, that cover a range of common illnesses and injuries.

All Royal Life Saving first aid training is delivered in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and in line with COVID safe requirements.

COVERING OF LIBRARY BOOKS

Each year the Catholic Schools Office provide the school with a collection of new chapter, picture and non fiction books. We have just received the first box. If at lease 2 families could volunteer to cover these new books, it would be greatly appreciated. Please see Robyn in the office if you are able to help out.
