We're looking for young people aged 13-25 in the region to take part in our online storytelling mentorship.Participants will work one-on-one with professional storytellers in film, theatre, and comedy to craft a true story based on their lived experiences, and present those stories in a virtual storytelling event.Later in the year, we'll be traveling to the storyteller's hometown to film their story as a piece-to-camera, which will be shared in a community screening. The storytelling project runs from August-November and is open to young people 13-25 across Murray Mallee, Sunraysia, Riverland, and cross-border regions. Application close Friday 20th August.Head to www.fairfaxyi.com to apply or contact FYI Artistic Director Chelsea Zeller at fairfaxyi@gmail.com for more info.

Here's what our storytellers had to say about taking part in the online mentorship earlier this year...

The part which I found most enjoyable was when I was showcasing my story in front of everyone else. The feeling of all your hard-work being structured into something which you can look back on and be proud of is wonderful. - Jackson Ietto-Richards, Mildura, storyteller and mentorship participantI think that not taking part in this program would be a missed opportunity, Fairfax is enlightening and inspiring, to say the least. People gain major confidence skills, new ways of looking at things, and a whole bunch of great memories - Deaken Fawcett, Kerang, storyteller and mentorship participantI got to see my full potential and a side of me that I haven't been able to develop for a long time. I enjoyed developing my story and hearing the laughs in the house from when I shared it on the Zoom performance.- Tara Andrews, Goodnight, storyteller and mentorship participantThis program is important as it opens many different doors to incredible opportunities I never thought I would have. 10/10 recommend this experience to any young person, looking for a new creative outlet.- Samantha Mullans, Lalbert, storyteller and mentorship participant

The work was incredible. It was so engaging, and it was such a great outcome for the participants and the online mentors... it’s the very best possible experience it can be for those young people... I was absolutely thrilled watching it earlier this year. - Loraine Little, Regional Arts Victoria and FYI supporter
