At Preshil, we currently have 20 students undertaking the IB Diploma Film course (eight in Year 12, twelve in Year 11).

The course provides students with opportunities to be both interpreters and creators of film. This subject develops students’ critical abilities and their appreciation of the diverse perspectives in film. Students complete two film analysis tasks: a written analysis task and a multimedia (documentary-style) comparative study exploring a film focus through analysis of two films from different cultural contexts.

In addition to this, they create a portfolio of practical work, exploring different roles in film making. The practical component of the course emphasises the importance of working collaboratively. Our students have a strong artistic voice and have worked hard to express their own personal perspectives through film, taking on roles in directing, writing, editing, cinematography, sound, acting and art production.

They have produced some amazing work which we hope to share with you in the coming months.
