Year 5 & 6 Coding Projects

Mr Earl

This term the Year 5 and 6 students have started to work on coding projects using Scratch. Scratch is an online tool developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that is able to engage students of all ages in the fundamentals of coding.

Our Year 5 and 6 students have been developing their knowledge of block coding and have used a variety of operators and control blocks to code stories, games and even design virtual pets. Over the course of the rest of the Term, the students will be applying what they have learned in their coding sessions along with the skills they have developed in their Design Technology units of work to create a story and game for a specific audience.

I look forward to seeing what the students come up with!

Here are some examples of the students' work.
