Here is last week’s question (and the answer)

MOBILE PHONES

The beaver family have three mobile phones but none of the batteries have any charge.

It takes 1 hour to fully charge a mobile phone, but this does not need to be done all in one go.

The beaver family only have two mobile phone chargers in the house.

What is the shortest time they need to fully recharge the three phones?

  • 3 HOURS
  • 2 HOURS
  • 1 HOUR 30 MINS
  • 1 HOUR

The answer is:

1 HOUR 30 MINS (90 MINS)

0 mins = Phones 1 and 2 are plugged into charger 1 and charger 2.

30 mins = Charger 1 is disconnected from phone 1 (which is now half charged) and plugged into Phone 3.

60 mins = Charger 2 is removed from the fully charged phone 2 and plugged into phone 1 (that is already half charged)

1hr 30m = All phones are now charged
