STAGE 2 HEALTH

AND WELLBEING

Sarah, Leah and Grace (Students)

Cancer is an extremely prevalent issue in Australian society, with roughly 145,000 new cases diagnosed each year. The Cancer Council annually runs ‘Daffodil Day’ which raises money to support cancer patients and their family, in addition to funding lifesaving cancer research.

This year on Friday 27 August, Aberfoyle Park High School held it’s first ever Daffodil Day origami workshop to celebrate this cause and raise awareness around cancer and its effects on society.

Students were encouraged to pass on their daffodil to someone else, and share what they had learnt about cancer, the Cancer Council, and Daffodil Day with them. By doing this, we hope the awareness raised spreads throughout the school and wider community.

We wanted to thank Mr McCulloch and Mr Jacques for helping us during the planning, preparation and delivery of this health promotion, Catherine Murdoch and Trudy McCard from finance for sourcing all of our materials, and everyone who came along to make a daffodil.
