BOYS NETBALL

Sarah Shillabeer, Teacher

On Tuesday 17 August, we travelled to Scotch College with our senior and year 9 boys teams to engage in some fun and semi-competitive netball.

Our senior team first played off against Scotch College in a game that showed promise, however we were out played by a well versed team. There were minor injuries and major laughs, which helped them to roll into the second game against a well matched Adelaide Botanic High School.

The team found their rhythm and cruised through the quarters with a challenge set by Ms Rowe which encouraged fast and accurate shooting. Our students showed skills, teamwork and enthusiasm, leading to an excellent win and commendations from the referees who thoroughly enjoyed our encouragement and banter.

After a quick “this is how you play netball” pep talk from Ms Shillabeer, our year 9's took to the court against a quality opponent in Scotch College. With only two practices under their belts, we took some time to get comfortable in our positions.  Some fast transitions got us back into the game. Falling short in the last quarter meant victory belonged to Scotch. Our second game against Adelaide Botanic was another well matched round. Our year 9's showed flexibility in the positions they played and had some excellent interceptions in defence and consistent shooting in offence which lead us to a comfortable victory.

Both teams represented our school with energy, brilliant attitudes and an overwhelming feeling of camaraderie.
