Melbourne Writer's Festival
A group of students from year 7-9 (Library Team, Book Bites members and VHAP students) enjoyed a great day out at the Melbourne Writer's Festival, held at the State Library of Victoria.
The were all enthralled to be listening to Tom Taylor (writer for Batman and Spider-Man, etc.), Nova Weetman (The Edge of Thirteen, The Jammer), Lili Wilkinson (A Hunger of Thorns, After the Lights Go Out), Kay Kerr (Please Don't Hug Me and Love & Autism).
"My favourite part of the day was the Tom Taylor session because it was so much fun seeing the interesting way people come up with to get his attention."
They also gained some valuable insights and tips to help in their own writing process from Lili Wilkinson and Nova Weetman.
"What works for her and that the planning process might be different for different people because everyone works differently. What Lili was talking about interested me because I’ve been working on a story of my own making her talk more interesting for me."
Thank you to Maisie (Year 7) for her report of the day which is attached below.
Victorian High Achievers Program
Congratulations to our Term 2 group of VHAP students on completing either the VHAP-English or VHAP-Maths program during Term 2. They have all worked hard throughout the term completing online sessions and activities. A well-deserved celebratory hot chocolate and cookies morning was enjoyed by all.
Academic Integrity
All MYP (Years 7-9) classes have engaged in Academic Integrity sessions throughout the term during their Library sessions. They have learnt what it means, how to produce work with merit and create a Bibliography to support their work. This knowledge will be built upon during further sessions throughout the year.
