The Art of Cooking

Year 9

What is the subject about?

 

In this elective students are introduced to food as an art. Students develop skills in preparing, cooking and presenting food in creative ways. They work individually and in pairs to develop an understanding of ingredients, tools and equipment used in the making, decorating and presenting of a variety of foods including cakes, biscuits and savoury dishes. Students will be introduced to design briefs and will study sensory analysis in greater detail. The work is based on identifying correct safety and hygiene practices in food preparation.
