Annual Chaplaincy Dinner Thank You

On behalf of the Frankston High School Chaplaincy Committee, I would like to thank our school community and local churches for supporting our Annual Dinner on Wednesday, 19 March. Our guests included former students and staff, 33 members of the High Street Uniting Church, parents and staff.

We were expecting Dr Ross McMullin to speak; however, he advised us early on Wednesday that he was ill and would be unable to attend as planned.

I would like to sincerely thank Ms Toovey who organized four students from Year 11 to speak about their experiences on their World Challenge Expedition in 2013. I would also like to thank Ms Long and Mr de Valle who assisted with the photo slide show presentation.

Our students, Chloe Jaeger of Year 12, Lara Smith, Karina Strange and Elise Burt, all of Year 11, told wonderful stories from their travels in Thailand and Cambodia. The highlights of their trips included their 10 day treks, their leisure time and especially the time they spent on their projects, assisting children in local orphanages. The impact of these projects can be measured by their continuing need and desire to make a difference in these communities. As a result of their travels, the first out of uniform day at Frankston High School this year will donate money to four charities in Cambodia.  Congratulations to our students on a wonderful presentation.

I would also like to thank our Chaplains, Linda Hughes and Jonathan Dawson who did an excellent job of MC’s for the evening.

The evening raised nearly $3,000 and we are most appreciative of the support from the following individuals and groups who supported our dinner:
