Welcome to Term 2!

Students have had a great start to Term 2, continuing on with our ICT rotations, Writing, Reading, Maths and much, much more. We even celebrated Star Wars day (May 4th) by learning how to write using 'Yoda talk' and have enjoyed continuing our Science lessons (especially when we get to do experiments!).

Cross Country and Writer's Festival

A few of our students had the opportunity to go to Cross Country and our local Writer's Festival this past week. Thankfully the weather held up for both days and students were able to enjoy the experience of these extra-curricular activities. Well done to all those who participated!

We would also like to say a big thanks to Mr Smith for organising the Cross Country, Mr Lidgett for organising our trip to the Writer's Festival and to Mrs Shultz, Miss Mitchell and Em Clohesy for accompanying our students to these events!

Camp - Week 9

Students (and teachers!) are all very excited for our upcoming camp in Week 9 (21st - 23rd June) at Campaspe Downs Camp. This event is now open in Compass and medical forms will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.

If you would like to volunteer as a parent helper, please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible so that we can finalise numbers. Thankyou!

Learning in Weeks 3 & 4

Mathematics: This fortnight, we will be continuing on with our 'Multiplication and Division' unit during Fluid Groups.  We will also be exploring 'Perimeter' and 'Area' in Weeks 3 and 4 as part of our Applied Maths sessions.

Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will complete a piece of writing using the Writer's Process (Planning, Drafting, Revising, Editing, Publishing) and learn about the importance of each of these stages.

In Reading, we will be using illustrations, pictures and diagrams to expand our vocabulary, sequencing main events to retell the stories we read and learning how to summarise the important details of texts.

Topic: Our new topic unit 'Into the Unknown' is well underway and students are loving learning about 'The Age of Exploration' (1400s - 1600s). This fortnight, students will begin a more in-depth research task on an explorer of their choice.
