Prep Reminders: 

Reading Log Book

With many students now taking decodable reader books home, we thought it was time to do a further explanation of how to best use the 'My Home Reading Book'. 

There is very valuable information contained within the reading book, please take a few minutes to look through your childs Home Reading Book. 

We will be sending home the above document in your childs Home Reading Book in the coming week. 

The use of this book is a vital link of communication between your and your childs teacher. 

Jumpers

Now that we have hit the cooler weather period, it is very important that your child's jumper has their name on it. Already we have had multiple missing jumpers and they are impossible to return to their owners without a name. 

Umbrellas

Please make sure that your child knows that if they bring an umbrella to school in the morning, that it cannot be used in the playground at lunch or recess.

What we have been up to...

Freedom!

This week, the Preps were finally allowed up the stairs! It was a momentous occasion as now they have so many choices of play areas. They get to join the 1/2's on the days that they can play on the bottom oval, top oval and basketball court. 

Upcoming Fortnight

Week 3

Literacy: 

We will be revising the sounds that z, y, r, e and qu make, using our knowledge to read and write small words and sentences. We will be reading the story The Three Little Pigs and learning the Heart Word 'to'. 

You can help at home by saying a word and asking your child what the first or last sound is in that word. You can also ask them to put the Heart Word 'to' into a sentence for you. 

Mathematics: 

We will be learning about capacity.

Topic: 

We will be exploring materials by building one of the Three Little Pigs out of play dough, making a house for the pig and testing it to see if the wolf can blow it down.  

RRRR: 

Positive Coping- How are you today?

Week 4

Literacy: 

We will be learning about the sounds that j, u and k make and we will be using this knowledge to read and write small words and sentences. We will be reading the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff and learning the Heart Word 'was'. 

Please help at home by getting your child to read and write the heart words we have learnt to far.

Mathematics: We will be learning about directional language and using directions.

You can help at home by getting your child to direct a sibling, friend or other family member to places at home, using words such as forward, back, left, right.

Positive Coping- Calm Time

Topic: 

We will be building a bridge for the Three Billy Goats Gruff to climb to be able to cross the river.
