Respectful Relationships

In 5/6 Byron, we have started to explore the meaning of ‘gender’. We explored how things may be different for a baby, based on whether they are male or female. For example, we discussed the kinds of clothes babies are dressed in and the gifts they may be given when they are born or on their birthdays. We also discussed some key societal factors that influence gender, such as retail stores and the media.

SWPBS - Term 2 Whole School Rewards

This Friday 5th May, at assembly, we will be drawing out one prize for each level for our Term 2 Whole School Rewards. Attached below is the poster that is on display in the Hub display cabinet at school. Like during Term 1, students will be working hard in class to display our School Values and to receive stickers to go into their GuGu Rewards booklet. Students will also be contributing to the ‘whole school reward’ by earning a certain number of stickers in class, which will contribute to a strip being removed on our ‘Whole School’ display. Hopefully lots of strips are removed and we will all be excitedly awaiting to see which level we can reach this term!

SunSmart Policy

The official implementation of our SunSmart policy concluded at the end of April, so hats are not officially required after this time.

However, students are still encouraged to continue being SunSmart throughout the whole year. Families are encouraged to access the daily local sun protection times via the SunSmart widget on the school’s website, free SunSmart app, sunsmart.com.au or bom.gov.au.

We had our first SRC meeting for Term 2 today, it included our first discussions about our Student Voice project. This year our students have elected to create a ‘Relax Zone’, in our school.

But the biggest news today was welcoming our Prep SRC members for 2023! Well done to Mabel G, Elkie S, Nina S, Darcy B, Andie J and Reuben F. Welcome to the SRC!
