Welcome Back
It’s been wonderful to welcome students back to school for the commencement of Term 2, and we hope that students and families had the chance for a break and to recharge over school holidays. It’s been a busy start to the term with students settling back into the routines of learning smoothly. There are a number of important events happening at Epping Secondary College over the course of Term 2, including several school camps, work experience and exams for our Senior Students.
As the school community would be aware, Brad Moyle has taken up the role of Principal at a new school opening in the South West Region. I’d like to introduce myself as Acting Principal at Epping Secondary College for Term 2. I’ve worked in large stand alone Secondary Colleges throughout my teaching career including Keilor Downs College, Strathmore Secondary College and Springside West Secondary College. During this time I have held various positions of school leadership including Curriculum Leader, Head of Senior School and Assistant Principal. I look forward to the challenge of joining Epping Secondary College and getting to know the members of the school community.

Numeracy Day
The teaching staff at Epping SC spent the first day back of Term 2 working towards our Student Learning goal in our AIP with a focus on numeracy acquisition and application for all students. The day began with learning areas, completing an audit of existing curriculum to identify opportunities to support numeracy development across all subject areas. We then took part in a numeracy workshop led by Leigh-Lancaster Consulting, which allowed learning areas to unpack the numeracy demands and challenges in their subject areas before developing teaching and learning resources, with numeracy as a focus, for Term 2 topics.
The day was a valuable opportunity for staff to work together in learning area teams and to be able to support numeracy development for all of our students.
Uniform
Regarding uniform, we remind everyone that the cooler weather is now rolling in, and request that parents work with their children so that all students have the appropriate items of uniform for the cooler weather. Our aim is for our uniform to provide students with a positive school identity, support student safety and remove many of the biases and issues that arise when students have free dress. As such, student uniform is a compulsory requirement for our students. Further information can be accessed on our website at https://www.eppingsc.vic.edu.au/student-life/uniform/
