Open Evening – what an amazing showcase of our wonderful College. Last night we welcomed current families, prospective families, and community members to the College who enjoyed this moment to be together. Across the evening, every subject, area and activity showed the opportunities they bring to our students. Many of these students were happy to demonstrate their love of learning and the College. I want to thank all staff and students involved in making our Open Evening a great success. It was evident we are indeed people of welcome.
I was thoroughly impressed by the calibre of our student volunteers and performers. Sometimes teenagers get a bad rap; this could not be further from the truth for our St Mary’s students. Our students were spectacular: engaging, friendly, knowledgeable, and showed amazing initiative. Students from all year levels went outside their comfort zone to do their best and proudly represent their College. They worked alongside staff and with each other to ensure that each person they encountered felt welcomed. We certainly are a community of learning and living in an unashamedly Catholic way. It was clear to all involved that we offer our community a quality, varied and warm Catholic education with opportunities to maximise the outcomes for our young people. Our staff and students created a sense of family that was palpable.
In addition, our Family Connect parents looked after the registration stand, and we showed the strong and productive connections that parents could have with the College. Please join us at the next meeting on Monday, 29 May, 5:30 pm as we make decisions about the Parent evenings and events, we will be organising for later this year.
Finally, thank you to all staff, students and parents for their time and efforts. I am very humbled and honoured to lead this amazing community.
God bless
Kerry
