Hello, from our students and teachers.

Hello from Jacinta and Grade 5/6 C

BUDDIES

The Grade 5/6 students are lucky enough to work each week with their buddies in F/1 room. This week they were excited to help out the younger students with a STEM challenge. Provided with one A4 piece of paper and sticky tape, students were instructed to build the tallest tower possible. The results were quite impressive.

LITERACY

Last week we started to work on descriptive writing in class. Students have been asked to use adjectives, verbs, adverbs and a range of literary devices to write descriptive passages. Check out some of our amazing work.

Rain
The moist usually soundless jungle now pounded with the rain as the droplets shattered the surface of the river like glass. The animals scampered away as the leaves drooped and showered them with ice-cold water that they had no need for and did not want. Lily pads tumbled and back flipped underwater as the rain stampeded on them over and over again. The trees, weighed down and tired grew even more so as the unneeded shower beat them as though they were naughty children who deserved a smack. The pain from the water was agonising on the zebras backs as they galloped away no longer frolicking. The once crowded jungle clearing now sat motionless and quiet apart from the everlasting beating punishment of the rain.

Sushi
I am a roll of rice wrapped in a sheet of green from the depths of the sea. Mini soy sauce tubes to squirt on my fillings. Multi options; avocado which makes me shine like a jewel, salmon is my inner body.  The soy sauce in my shirt and the rice make a sushi roll. Without rice what is sushi? A roll of random nothing.

NUMERACY

Each day our mathematics sessions begin with a hook intended to help tune students in for the learning that follows. On Monday, students were presented with a target number and criteria that they needed to follow in order to produce different number sentences. Below are some examples of the different ways students tackled the task.
