Staff AAC Lunchtime Session

On Monday 8th May, the Hamlyn Views AAC Action Team hosted a special Lunchtime session using AAC. This was a chance for staff to practise using communication devices, to learn new strategies, and experience what it’s like to use a communication device as your main way to speak. We used a range of communication devices including high tech devices (iPads), and low-tech communication boards, as well as PODD books.

A big thanks to the AAC Action Team for organising the event and providing delicious treats.

New Communication Hub website!

A new website called ‘The Communication hub’ has been launched by Speech Pathology Australia. The communication hub is for people with communication difficulties, their communication partners, and the wider community. It highlights the importance of communication in everyday life and provides information to those with communication difficulties to empower themselves and others. The site can be translated into many different community languages.

Communication Device Reminder

If your child uses an AAC device, please remember to send it to school charged every day! We want our students to have the best access to communication that they can. Every person is different- and sometimes it may take some time to learn a new skill- but the more we all practice, the better we will be at using AAC!

If you would like to chat with our school Speech Pathologist about AAC and Communication Devices, please get in touch with School Speech Pathologist Zola!
