Welcome Back to Term 3

Dear Families,

Welcome back to our school community and a very warm welcome to our new families who are joining us for the first time. I hope that all families have had a good holiday and that everyone is feeling refreshed and ready for another eventful term.

Students have settled back into their learning routines which has been pleasing to see and we are looking forward to another positive term ahead.

School Events

As we enter the Second Semester of the 2019 school year, we have had an exciting first week with the visit from 9 News. The school thanks Michele D'Aloia for organising the visit as it was a truly memorable experience for our primary students.

There are many interesting events and activities occurring this term, including various class excursions, camps, Book Week, Science Week, Bike Ed and many more.  I  encourage everyone to check out the calendar attached to the newsletter  and our Facebook page for details of planned events.

Goal Setting

LNPS continuously strives to create the best possible conditions for learning, and an important element is our approach to student goal setting. Throughout the year students and staff engage in learning experiences where time is taken to discover strengths and the areas for growth that they would like to focus on.

LNPS goal setting focuses on all aspects of a student’s learning. Our sole purpose is to increase students' autonomy, ownership and self-regulation of their learning. Further to this, the collaboration between parent, child and teacher provides the opportunity to continue strengthening relationships.

This term students will reflect on their existing goals, celebrate achievements and plan for further growth.

Parent Education Evening

The LNPS Parent Education Committee and LNPS staff will be hosting an evening for families on reading and writing. The aim of the evening is to empower and support families with how they can best support reading and writing at home.

In preparation for the event we ask families to provide questions regarding what they would like to gain from the evening. Please use the following survey to submit your questions - Education Forum Questions

Looking forward to another fantastic term.

Book Week

Theme: Reading is My Secret Power

Dates: 16 - 23 August 2019

The annual LNPS Book Week Parade will be held in the Gym on Monday 19th August from 9:00am. We encourage all students to dress up as their favourite book characters for the parade to celebrate stories and the joy of reading. We would love to see some creative costumes that are connected to books or the theme Reading is My Secret Power.

More information on the Tirkandi page of the newsletter.

MS Readathon

Individually you can make a difference! Embark on an epic adventure! The MS Readathon inspires kids to read as much as they can, all for an incredible cause. The rules are simple. Read whatever you like, as much as you can, in August. This year’s MS Readathon will be a magical quest, and the adventure kicks off on August 1 and wraps up on August 31. Best of all, by joining our quest, not only will you awaken a love of reading, you will also be helping kids who have a parent with multiple sclerosis.
