CAPA Faculty

It was a great way to celebrate student success with the annual OnTrack Music Performance night at the Gosford Entertainment Grounds. It was a fantastic show up of family and friends to watch the students perform, one of the most well attended performances I have seen for a long time.

It is great to get out again after a couple of years to enjoy these nights. Our music students from Years 7 - 12 played a great selection of modern songs and absolute classics including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Corrs and Shaun Mendez to name a few. Once again, the talent of many of our students is a wonder to be part of.

May also saw the annual HSC Music Day run again at Narara Valley High School with around 15 schools attending and gaining valuable experience and knowledge from a range of experienced HSC markers and teachers. This has been running now for almost two decades and is an integral part of a HSC CAPA students learning experiences each year.

Our HSC students are also hard at work developing their Visual Art Body of Work and Music Program. This is an important time for them as many of the conceptual and performing ideas are reaching their full potential and refinement. The culmination of many years of study, research and connecting to their audiences is rapidly approaching and we wish them all well in Music, Visual Art and Photography.

Drama Club has been a great new addition to the many extra-curricular activities students have an opportunity to be part of here at Henry Kendall High School. Each Thursday morning before school, students get to be part of a wellbeing and confidence building group that love to perform, learn how to express themselves and develop their own recognition and identity of what makes them tick through solo and group performances. These are our students and citizens of the future and bring with them a passion and love for the arts.

After a few stop starts over the past several years, 2022 has seen the Band Program enjoy growth and success with a passionate group of students coming into school each Wednesday morning to learn and play together and develop their individual instrument skills in Percussion, Woodwind, Brass and Strings. We have our first performances coming up early next term at the Performing Arts Nights during Education Week.

Many of these learning opportunities are going to be highlighted in Term 3 during Education Week. These culminate in several high profile Performance Events returning after a few years of disruption. These events will be ticketed and advertised formally early in Term 3 but following are the details for our community of parents and friends.
