Here we are, on the precipice of Semester 2. A special thanks to all who have journeyed through the past six months. Some have fought COVID, others the flu! We continue to be grateful for each member of our community and their individual contribution that shapes us.

Bike Shed Takes Shape

Our special thanks to the contributors to our tax free Building Fund and the energy of our JSC fundraisers who have enabled the construction of the bike space. While many students have noted concern that the rain still gets in, we look forward to a roofed structure by the start of term 3! Stay tuned for an official opening.

Extension Opportunities

During next term, students who enjoy testing and extending themselves have two opportunities to bend their brains and take on a challenge by registering for an ICAS assessment and/or a Gateways experience. These are certainly not compulsory, but simply an opportunity for students to be challenged if they wish to engage. More information will be shared with parents as we step into Term Three.

NAIDOC Week

Information was circulated on Compass in preparation for our Rosanna Primary NAIDOC Week, the first week of term three. Students will have an opportunity to come dressed in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flags, as well as participate in some traditional games on Tuesday. Final Day Timeline

A reminder that our final day on Friday finishes at 2:30pm. We will still be enjoying lunch which will be moved to 12:30pm. Our final assembly will start at 1:45pm outside the 456 and Prep Learning Areas, depending on the weather.

Netballer Extraordinaire - SSV State Netball Trials

A huge congratulations goes to Grade 6 student Lily L, who last week attended the Final State Trial for the 2022 U/12 State Netball Team at Heathmont. Lily had progressed through three previous trials to make it this far, this time competing against the final 37 girls from across the state. This is a huge achievement, and Lily represented herself and Rosanna PS commendably! Amazing effort Lily, we are all very proud of you!

Scheduling of Three Way Conferences

Bookings for Three Way Conferences will be available shortly and can be made through Compass. With restrictions continuing to ease, these meetings will be held face to face. The 15 minute conversations will be an opportunity for students to lead conversations around their learning, as well as followup any questions that may arise from reports.

TheirCare will be running a program on Monday 18 July as it is a Curriculum Day. Please contact them if you wish to register your child.

Smile Squad Information and Visits

(5 September-16 September)

Smile Squad provides free dental services to students at school during school hours. This includes any general treatment that is needed. The cost of the service is provided by the State Government. Today, information in hard copy has been sent home with greater details of the program. It includes consent forms and medical information. Please ensure these are returned as soon as possible. In a busy world, this is a service that will ensure students have an opportunity to receive professional dental care. It is a voluntary invitation.

COVID Changes and Updates

As you would be aware, following advice from the Acting Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government recently announced changes to the pandemic orders.

There will no longer be a mandated vaccination requirement for staff working in mainstream schools. This change will come in from 11.59pm Friday 24 June, so in effect from the start of Term 3 2022. With almost 100% of school staff now vaccinated across Victoria, this will cause little change to our school.

As part of the changes, from 11.59pm Friday 24 June 2022, parents and carers who have COVID-19 can transport their non-COVID-19 children via private vehicle to their primary or secondary school when an alternative person is not available to assist. This will include school holiday programs held on school grounds.

This means that parents and carers will be able to leave COVID self-isolation to take their non-COVID-19 child to school or school holiday programs via a private vehicle.

The parent or carer must travel directly to and from the school only. They must remain in the vehicle at all times, unless it is reasonably necessary to leave the vehicle to walk the child to and from the entrance of the school safely. They must wear a face mask at all times.

Family members are asked to continue reporting positive COVID-19 cases to both the Department of Health and our own testing portal. You must also let the school know if your child is a close contact. Students who are close contacts and want to attend should still take 5 RATs over 7 days and wear a face mask whilst indoors if they are aged 8 years or over.

Students should continue to stay home if they are unwell, even if they test negative on a RAT.
