Writer’s Wall

Last week, I had the pleasure of changing over the content of our Writer’s Wall. If you haven’t seen it before, it is located in the main corridor, opposite Mr Green’s office. The Writer’s Wall showcases the wonderful talent of our students as authors and communicators and always features a diverse range of topics and text types. It’s gives our students a genuine audience for their work, as well as allowing students and families alike to see what is happening across different grades in the school. Each child who has a piece of writing displayed on the Writer’s Wall receives a certificate acknowledging their achievement. If your child comes home with one, or even if they haven’t this time around, feel free to wander in and check out what they have done.

Staff Professional Learning

In the first week of next term, staff will again work with Lisa Keskinen on writing. Lisa worked with us some time ago to establish our whole-school approach to writing, including the use of Writer’s Notebooks, Author’s Chair and the teaching of text types. With several new staff starting with us next term, it will be wonderful to have her back to revisit and refine what we do.

Wishing you all a safe and happy mid-year break.
