Wellbeing

Welcome to our last Wellbeing Page for Term 2

As I write for our final newsletter for Term 2, I reflect on the challenges for this term but also the many good times. The class sizes have been smaller due to flu and covid illnesses which can be disappointing for teachers as their plans for teaching the curriculum can be interrupted. However, teaching a class of 9 or 10 children can be especially rewarding for both the children and the teacher. This allows for more 1:1 opportunities with a less formal structure, whilst learning still occurs. Everyone’s wellbeing can benefit on these occasions.

Yesterday, I met with the Wellbeing leaders and we reflected on their achievements as leaders for Term 2 making possible plans for Term 3. There was so much for them to be proud of. Sharing information at assembly each week, planning posters for upcoming events, writing newsletter articles, visiting classrooms, attending weekly meetings with me and planning two of our school fundraisers for this term have provided opportunities for learning, leadership and laughter!

The meeting’s agenda continued as the leaders and I discussed plans for Friday’s assembly as we sadly farewell some of our staff. It was wonderful to hear of the praise these staff members received from this team. They recalled our wonderful Denise in the tuckshop who always has a kind word for everyone, who sells the best sushi, who makes the yummiest muffins, who is famous for oversalting the popcorn which makes it ‘the best!’ and who fondly calls everyone ‘Bella’. We will all miss Denise enormously.

The 1/2L children have been reflecting on Julie Novak who has provided wonderful LSO support to their class. Julie is especially appreciated for ‘helping children with their writing’, ‘providing encouragement in tricky times’, ‘teaching them how to spell hard words’ and reading her recently published book ‘Golly Gumnut’ to classes.

Mrs. Ashworth’s class reps - Emma, Ava and Audrey - chatted with me and planned their farewell speech for our Friday assembly, remembering lots of fun times with great learning in 3/4A with Mrs. Ashworth.

My best wishes to Julie, Denise & Em as their lives take on new adventures, especially to Em becoming a mum!

Happy holidays

My best wishes

Lindy
