Student achievements

Congratulations to the following students: 

Rianna Scott, Lily McConnon and Mia Anderson (Year 9) who have been selected in the 2022 U15 Tasmanian State Netball team. 

Rianna, Lily and Mia are now gearing up to compete at the 2022 School Sports Australia Netball Championships, to be held in Canberra next month. Good luck to you all and enjoy the experience! 

Alicia Dale (Year 9), who has jetted off to the Gold Coast to represent Tasmania in the U15 tennis group at the 2022 Australian Junior Team Championships. 

The round robin-style tournament is one of four Australian Junior Championship events held each year which take place on each of the Grand Slam surfaces—clay, grass and hard court. 

Alicia's tennis career has been going from strength to strength in recent years, boosted by her outstanding achievements, including being crowned the youngest girls' Pardey Shield Champion in 2020. Adding to her milestones, in 2021 Alicia won the 2021 Rafa Nadal Tour – Australian Masters Tour for U14s.

Abigail Gravell, Georgia Thurling, Holly Richardson (Year 8), Amaya Yee, Charlotte Hordern (Year 7), Maya Bowles, Meisie Kruger, Violet Williams (Year 6), Mylah Krelle and Isabelle Cranage (Year 1), who have been selected as finalists for the 2022 Nagle Prize.

The Nagle Prize is a national competition open to students from Nagle Education Alliance of Australia member schools. Participants in this year's competition were challenged to write a poem that explores the life of Nano Nagle. 

Well done to all SMC finalists on receiving the following awards and in particular, to Maya and Abigail whose pieces were chosen as the SMC Junior and Senior entries to the Nagle Prize respectively.
