Principal's Message

Pink Sock Day

As part of our scheduled PSA fixture against Scotch College this week, Trinity College will host ‘Pink Sock Day’ in support of the McGrath Foundation. This special event will see our College 1st Teams wearing pink socks for their respective sporting fixtures at Waterford on Saturday morning. Just prior to the commencement of each game, the boys will be given an opportunity to present a flower to an inspirational woman in their lives. The various coaches, managers, and the Principal, will also be sporting bright pink shirts in support of the day.

Pink is symbolic of respect for women; of awareness of women’s health and of a commitment to women’s welfare and safety. Following on from our International Women’s Day Breakfast, our Mother’s Day Mass, our various presentations on consent and the consistent focus on these issues within our various Formation Programs, our Pink Sock Day is yet another reminder to our young men to be mindful of such matters and, most importantly, respectful of all women in all contexts.

Through Pink Sock Day, the College looks to support women’s health, focusing on our mothers and all the women who continually encourage us through school, work and our life in general. It also presents an important ‘teachable moment’, whereby we can discuss and encourage our young men to demonstrate a greater awareness and appreciation towards women's health and welfare. Importantly, the day allows us to raise important funds in assisting the McGrath Foundation in their important work to place Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia.

This will be our seventh annual celebration of our Trinity Pink Sock Day and it continues the wonderful legacy created by former Head Prefect, Lochie Taylor ('16). In addition to the money raised through the boys wearing their pink socks, other fundraising activities have been organised for the day. Further to this, various raffles have been held throughout the College this week. We respectfully ask all family and friends to continue to generously support this wonderful initiative and assist the College in reaching our goal in providing much needed funds to the McGrath Foundation and in raising awareness and expectations amongst our boys. Together we can make a difference!

Live Jesus in our hearts.
