Foundation/1

Students have been given an introduction to Printing, while they also explored how to use forces to create marks. They used the actions of press, push and pull to create a Mondrian-inspired print. As part of this task, students revised 'los colores primarios' y 'formas geométricas' through a game of '¿Dónde está?' (Where is...?') as a warm-up. Students were to find certain colours and shapes using commands in Spanish.

During the last two weeks, students have begun designing their 'sombrero' for their Inti Raymi Performance for our upcoming Cultural Week for Term 2.  Students have been busily learning about how to plan, create and design a Peruvian Inspired hat to wear as a prop. For this series of lessons, students learnt how to create a simple pattern using shapes. Using known collage techniques they cut and pasted these shapes into an eye-catching style to decorate their hats. Please keep an eye out for them during our final assembly as they sing 'Saca las Manos'.

Grades 2/3

The Grade 2/3's have been learning all about Textiles, so far in Art they have made a simple running stitch bookmark and a hand-stitched picture on hessian. As part of this unit, they have been learning how to use a running stitch of a uniform size as well as tying knots. It has been super impressive to witness the students' growth in developing their stitching skills, they have shown a great deal of persistence and creativity during this unit.

Grade 4-6

The Grade 4-6's have been learning about 'Tencias de Acrilicos' (Acrylic Painting Techniques) through their light source painting. Students have been painting images that will use a light source which they will be adding in future during STEAM. The Grade 4-6's were able to choose their subject matter, however, they needed to include a light source of some sort which will be powered by a circuit in future. So far, students have been painting a range of different images from a lamp post, to fireworks, various sunrises and sunsets as well as portraits. Collectively, they have worked hard of developing their blending techniques, using highlights and including outlines to create their images.
