Principal's message

Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you had a superb long weekend. The weather certainly made getting around so much easier and we did have a great deal to choose from around town. Whatever you did, I hope you were able to relax and spend some time with your families.
The excitement continues to grow around the colour run scheduled for this Friday. As I have said previously, the response has been fantastic, and we are so grateful for the support from our community. I am really looking forward to the day.
We are delighted with the curriculum day that we had last Friday. Susie Hillard is a fantastic presenter and her knowledge is first class. After her observations from Thursday, she hit the mark directly on where we need to be in delivering our writing program. There were many ah-ha moments where the process was clarified, and we could see where we may have needed to tighten up our approach. Our vision is to provide an inclusive education, nurturing students to flourish and reach their academic, social and emotional potential. The programs we have implemented and explicit direct instruction are our pathways to our vision. Days like this enable us to review and reflect on our practice to ensure we are getting it right.
Our Well-being Team are meeting with Adam Voight today to discuss Restorative 2.0, an update to Restorative Practices and how this would look at Jamo. This is another area that we cannot wait to get up and running. It will refocus how we implement positive learning behaviours, how we address and talk to students, parents and colleagues, and establish clear connections with our parents around learning and positive behaviours. It has been a long two years of interruptions and moving between home learning and school. We need to get back on track to develop a clear partnership around learning, positive behaviours, and setting high expectations for our students.
I look forward to sharing more with you over the next few weeks.
Our Year 3 and 5 students undertook a Naplan Readiness test today to ensure we have the capacity to cope with the new online testing process. I can happily report that all went well. We will have another readiness test next Thursday to check that the Department's system can cope with many schools accessing the system at one time. I sent out the Naplan Public demonstration site link a couple of weeks ago, and I will again add it below. If your child is in either Year 3 or 5, it is worth looking, so you both understand what the assessments will look like. Our approach, as it is with everything we do, is to try your personal best at all times.

Have a great week, everyone.
