FUNDRAISER FOR THE HOODED PLOVER

A big thank you to all of our children and families for participating in our Gold coin for the Hooded Plovers plain clothes day. We raised $168 which goes towards educational programs, signage, little refuge houses and general awareness for the little hoodie. Many thanks to Chris Willocks who came and spoke to our Preps and year 1/2 students.

RESOURCESMART SCHOOLS WATER MODULE

Over the next couple of months our year 3/4 students will be monitoring our rainfall and investigating ways to conserve water as part of our ResouceSmart Schools Water Module.

We have put a water gauge station near our wicking boxes in the friendship garden; the students will be able to read and document our rainfall results.

Don’t forget to get your water usage data into Mrs Byrne by 4.30 this Wednesday 30th March. Please email it to jbyrne@sjsorrento.Catholic.edi.au

The family with the biggest water saving will win a Maze Compost Caddy for their kitchen.

5/6 SAVE the FLINDERS PIER MURAL

Our Save the Flinders Pier mural is being showcased at the Mornington Peninsula Library in Rosebud. Our year 5/6 students worked on this group mural as part of sustainability. The mural is about saving our eco systems and the Flinders Pier. The image they created is of Josie Jones OAM who is an ecowarrior and also a free diver. One of her many passions is underwater photography and videoing our amazing sea life, especially weedy sea dragons and sea horses.
