Performing Arts Matters
What a great return to music at SPX. “Super Tuesday” where our Opening Mass and Academic Awards Ceremony marked a return to music and singing at SPX school events. Our 'musos' showed no signs of nerves and delivered really meaningful spiritual music and great performances. Well done to all involved and we can look towards even better and bigger things in the future.
As we look towards the future, Saturday 19 March is our Open Day, where we will have a range of performances and demonstrations by our Performing Arts groups. Stay tuned for times and details.
As a way of modernising vocal participation we are formally renaming our choirs to Chorales. This is in an endeavour to steer away from the narrow view of choir music to include a range of vocal styles and genres. I would welcome participation from students 7 – 12 in our Senior Chorale on Wednesday mornings. The hope for this group is that we can develop a Music Theatre Ensemble in Term 3 from our Senior Chorale. We also have been running vocal lessons in Year 5 and 6. Invitations to join our Junior Chorale will come out soon. Watch this space.
I have included some photos from Tuesday's preparations and performances with this article.
