Office of the eSafety Commissioner Resources for Parents

On her visit to speak with Year 8 at Mr Steinman’s Form Meeting last week our Schools Police Liaison Officer Snr Constable Lynda Hart reminded the students of their need to safeguard themselves from harm from contemporary health and wellbeing concerns including Vapes, and online safety and security.

In a link to our “pre COVID-19” presentation from Greg Gebhart from the Office of the Commissioner of eSafety Julie Inman Grant, Lynda referred us to the attachments below.

Academic Awards Assembly

At the recent Year 7 Touchstone Induction Day we highlighted the quality of the Year 7 2022 cohort’s journey to Year 12, and the “curriculum of story” they will build along the way. In light of the Academic Awards Assembly on Tuesday, the following two photos illustrate the journey for our class of 2021. The first photo includes our 2021 Dux James Scaiff welcoming 2021 College Vice Captain Nick Ward to the College prior to the Year 7 School Year. The second includes our then College Counselling Team with a range of students and high achievers from the Class of 2021. James Scaiff left to attend school in Atlanta, Georgia USA before returning to the College in Year 9.

Also at the Academic Awards Assembly on Tuesday we celebrated the contribution of Mr Nick Carson who has been our Business Manager since January 2016. Nick is a proud Old Boy of the College from the very strongly associated and tightknit Class of 1982, who pioneered our Basketball program, in an era when cadets, rugby and cricket were prominent.

Mr Carson has ensured that the College is in a sound financial position and continues to offer affordable Catholic education to our community. He has steered the College through all the challenges of the past two years including COVID-19 while leading an extensive refurbishment program to ensure our facilities are a high standard and environmentally sound. Through his stewardship pastoral care, teaching and learning have thrived as he has ensured the College is well resourced to deliver contemporary learning opportunities in the best innovative traditions of Edmund Rice Education.

Nick is to be congratulated and we sincerely thank him for ensuring St Pius X College is a great Catholic school for our community. He is a great friend and colleague and we will miss him!

There is a 7- a-side tournament to launch the season on 12 March, so pass the word around to your mates from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 to get along and have some fun.
