From the Principal

Week 4 Term 1 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

As most of you would be aware yesterday was Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

Our Yr 3/4  and 5/6 students were able to attend mass celebrated Fr John. During Father's homily he talked about Lent being a joyous occasion; a time to embrace opportunities as we prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus. Father's homily was personally for me, a time to reflect on the positives in life (what can  I do during lent?) rather than the opposite (What will I give up?).

It was a strong message that we should embrace the positives and and find things we can be grateful for. This is not always easy!!!

Tuckshop

Just a reminder that there is no Tuckshop tomorrow.  Thank you for your understanding.

Enrolment for Foundation Year (Prep) 2023

St Bede's is now taking enrolments for Prep next year. If you have a child starting school next year, could you please collect an enrolment form from Chris in the office as soon as possible? You can also download an enrolment form off our website.

If you know of families wanting to enrol at St Bede's please let them know enrolments are open. Word of mouth is the biggest and best form of advertising. Our First Open day will be held on Thursday 17th March between 9.00am and 1.00pm.

Review

Later this month  St Bede's  will be undertaking the MACs school review process. The staff have been preparing the required documentation during staff  and leadership team meetings. There are two components to this review.

1.VRQA (Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority)

That the school meets the requirements for Registration

2. SIF review (School Improvement Framework)

The SIF of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) has two purposes:

  1. to assist schools and teachers to improve student outcomes
  2. to satisfy legitimate expectations of government and sector authorities.

A report will be made available to our community in late May.

Assembly

Tomorrow's assembly will be held outside commencing at 2.30pm.  Parents are invited to attend.  Our Yr. 6 leaders and 5/6J will be leading our assembly.  Please remember that parents need to be double vaccinated to attend onsite.

COVID 19

There have been two reports of COVID 19 in the school this week. Please ensure you regularly RAT test your child. Tests are available from the office.

Shrove Tuesday

Thank you to our wonderful helpers who provided pancakes for all our students on Tuesday. They looked and tasted great!!!! We really do have a special community.

Have a great week
