Instrumental Music Program

Instrumental Music at Glen Eira College

Glen Eira College offers tuition in several musical instruments. Tuition has already commenced for ongoing and new students. Students currently enrol at least for a semester (preferably the whole year) and have lessons from specialist teachers in flute, saxophone, clarinet, drums, percussion, voice, violin, cello, piano and guitar. Instrumental students gradually achieve more confidence in performance upon their instrument. Glen Eira College combines instrumental tuition with regular participation in concert presentations.

It is well understood that studying an instrument specifically assists comprehension and facility with literacy and numeracy. A student’s overall education is more comprehensive with the study of musical instruments. Students’ wellbeing, intellect, self-esteem, expressive ability and overall development is enhanced from studying instrumental music.

There are limited vacancies for enrolment and tuition in any of the instruments at Glen Eira College. Students attend a weekly lesson for half a period (in most cases). Their lesson time is rotated so that they don’t miss the same subject every week. Instruments are available for a nominal hire fee. Please feel free to contact our Performing Arts Coordinator for further enquiry and enrolment. Our performing arts coordinator, Bernadette McIvor, can be contacted on email: - Bernadette.McIvor@education.vic.gov.au
