Senior School Update

Year 12 Cable Park Excursion

On Monday the 23rd of March, our Year 12 cohort completed the Aqua Park course at Melbourne Cable Park in Bangholme in lieu of the Senior Swimming Carnival. The Autumn weather was kind to our Year 12s who got to run, climb, slip and laugh in 27-degree sunshine. It was lovely to see our Year 12s demonstrating their THRIVE behaviours and enjoying themselves with their classmates. We hope that this excursion will give them a burst of positivity as they head into the final weeks of Term 1.

'Cool Escape' a students' creative response.

Congratulations to all our wonderful VCE English students who have now completed their first English SAC and received their results. The students read and studied three short stories from Cate Kennedy’s Like a House on Fire. They then developed creative responses to this text. The Year 12 English team were very impressed with the creativity, sophistication and expressiveness in our students’ writing. Attached is a stunning piece of writing from our 2021 Year 11 English and History Dux,  Alexia Davie.

This year she wrote her piece, Cool Escape, as a creative response to Kennedy’s story, Whirlpool.  In this piece, Alexia writes from the protagonist’s shadow’s perspective, and includes detailed footnotes to provide insight into the authorial choices that she made in the construction of this text.  Alexia’s response is highly creative, shows a deep understanding of Kennedy’s text, and is spectacular in its expressiveness.

Congratulations Alexia!
