Principal's Update

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all well. I can’t believe this is our last newsletter for the term.

Looking back, we have had lots going on and many things to be proud of. Most importantly the students have had a whole term at school with no interruptions which has been welcomed. The students need a big pat on the back for their hard work and resilience across the term.

EMMAC Winners

I’d like to give a huge congratulations to 56P on winning the EMMAC award for Term 1. They will be going to the Cobram Cinemas to watch ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ on Friday. A reminder to parents that an explained absence does not count against a classes total for the week. All you need to do is ring, send a note or put the absence in Compass.

Easter Raffle

Our student leaders are currently assisting with the running of our Easter Raffle. Tickets are available for $1 each with the winner drawn on Friday 8th April. Thank you to Vicki Sutton and family for donating the Easter Hamper for the raffle.

5/6 Country Celebration

Today the 5/6 students celebrated their MAPPEN unit that they’ve been working on for the term. MAPPEN is our humanities curriculum that we follow as a school. 5/6 Students were required to research and then present information, to the entire 5/6 area, on a country of their choice.  After presenting their work, a winner was chosen based on work ethic, presentation and showing interest in others work, as well as the information collected. All the students did a great job but I wanted to congratulate the winner Dom Luke Thompson who researched and presented on Italy.

This means that today (Tuesday, 5th April) the 5/6 students can dress up in colours of the Italian flag and will enjoy activities including cultural games, music and Italian cuisine (cooked by the teachers) throughout the day. Thank you to all the 5/6 teachers for organising and facilitating an enjoyable unit of work and celebration to match.

School Council

We know have a new School Council President and Vice President. I’d like to congratulate Duane Kelly (President) and Christie Molinaro (Vice President) on being voted in by council. Both of these two do a power of work for the school already and I’m looking forward to working with them on our next chapter of our school’s journey. I’d also like to welcome Ben Sullivan to council as a school council parent representative.

Building Works

We have been busily moving through the building works process for our government funding that we received in 2021. We are currently working on designs with the first part of the build beginning towards the end of this year. I can tell you that at this stage we will be receiving a whole new school with the funding. The administration building and BER will be renovated like new and we will be build a whole new Multi-Purpose Hall and new Learning Wing. This is very exciting for our school community and we can’t wait until the build starts.

Term end and start

Our last day for Term 1 is this Friday 8th April, with school finishing at the normal time of 3:20 pm. Our first day for Term 2 will be Wednesday 27th April.

Have a safe and happy holidays!
