Principal's message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Yesterday we had a brilliant day out at Brauerander Park with our Athletics day. A huge thank you must go to Mrs Cherine Owen and all our staff for their work yesterday. It was such a great day.

One of the things I liked most about the day was watching the excitement on our student's faces. It was great to see them go through the whole gamut of emotions yesterday, as it is something they have not experienced in any form over the last two years. Students celebrated, they were disappointed, they cheered and encouraged each other, and some were upset however, they bounced back, showed remarkable resilience and continued. These experiences go into the melting pot and allow our students to grow and become great citizens.

The other thing that pleased me yesterday was having parents back at our events. Your support of your children, the school and willingness to jump in and help was brilliant, so thank you. It was such a good vibe.

Details for the colour run will be out today. The excitement is growing amongst the students, and the community support is first class.

Curriculum and curriculum delivery is important to us and is a continual priority as we build a culture of continual improvement across the school with everything we do. We welcome back Susie Hillard to Jamo today. Susie is a Talk 4 Writing trainer (our writing program) who trained our staff over two days in 2021. Susie will observe and coach staff today to ensure we are teaching the program to fidelity and then working with all staff tomorrow to ensure we are hitting the mark with our Talk 4 Writing delivery.

We have made a conscious decision to ensure we embed what we do before moving on. Our focus areas are Well-being, Reading, Writing and Numeracy and will remain so. We have spent a great deal of time researching the programs we implement. Their benefits to our students are significant therefore, we must continue to ensure we utilise them to the best of our abilities.

I know I continually say it within our Covid updates, but we really do appreciate the swiftness in which you notify us of a positive Covid result. It allows us to inform the community quickly and enables other parents to monitor themselves and their children more closely. Keep up the great work.

The long weekend in Warrnambool is a great one with lots on, so whether you are off to the Folky, down the beach at the State Titles or just having a quiet one, we hope you have a great long weekend.
