School News

Room 1

In Room 1 we have been super busy getting to know each other and working out the most effective ways we can work as a team under the new school COVID guidelines. Students have hit the ground running with their learning and I am super excited to be working with such a vibrant, enthusiastic bunch of young people.

In Math, students have really enjoyed manipulating concrete materials to assist in their learning about fractions.

In English we are learning to write a suspense narrative and looking at how writers use figurative language to create imagery and suspense. The students have been viewing the animation, “Alma”, to hook them in and get their creative juices flowing. As a result, they have produced some fantastic pieces of writing, they should be very proud.

To further promote the Year 6 students as leaders of the school, we have continued with a Better Buddy program. Each student has been allocated a Year 1 buddy and, the Year 6 students have taken on their role with pride. The students will start off as ‘pen pals’ and, fingers crossed, as time goes on, they will be able to join up face to face 3 times a term. They are currently discussing some more creative ways to get to know our buddies and a zoom call will be set for week 6.

E-Safety with the E-Safety Commissioner

With children spending more time online playing games, going on YouTube and using social media, they may face challenges with on-line bullying.

The e-Safety Commissioner Website has a page dedicated to young people who are seeking support in reporting online bullying. Click on the image below and it will take you straight to the page that you can show your children to help empower them to seek help.
