PE

Physical Education and Sport

In PE, students have continued to learn and practise events for our Whole School Athletics Carnival. Over the last two weeks, students in Prep - 2 have continued to practise the shuttle relay, vortex and tunnel ball, as well as learn how to perform shot put (with a light ball) and hurdles.

Students in 3 - 6 have been refining their technique in hurdles and high jump, as well as practising relays and Captain ball.

Our new sandpit is nearly ready to go and I am so excited to put it to good use next week, teaching long jump to all grades and triple jump to the students in grades 3 - 6. Thank you to the wonderful staff and students who helped to move all the sand up the hill. What an effort!

Our Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 29th March at Morrison Reserve Athletics Track. Please contact me on Compass if you are able to help out on the day. No experience required, but all helpers must be fully vaccinated and hold a current Working with Children Check. Thank you to the families who have already offered to help. The generosity of your time is greatly appreciated!

Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)

Due to the Curriculum Day, our Prep students have only had one session of PMP this fortnight. They participated in activities practising the following skills: eye tracking, balance, hand-eye coordination, ball control, ladder walking, beam walking and tiptoe walking. A big thank you to our Grade 5/6 students, who continue to show great leadership and enthusiasm whilst assisting with these sessions.

Interschool Sport

Our Grade 5/6 students have been busy practising their sports for the Summer Sports Robin Day on Thursday 31st March. We will have 8 teams participating across the four different sports: 3 x volleyball teams, 1 x softball team, 2 x cricket teams and 2 x tennis teams. As soon as venues have been finalised, more information will be posted on Compass. We will require helpers on this day, to support each of our 8 teams. Please keep this date free if you are able to help out. Here is a glimpse of our volleyball players in training!

Swimming

A big congratulations to Amber, Billy, Chloe, Paige, Sammy and Tadhg who participated in the Montrose District swimming trials on Friday 18th February. Even though it was a very early start to the day, all students swam extremely well and should be very proud of themselves!
