Art Room News

Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

Hello RHPS Artists,

The art room is getting very messy with magiclay icing and papier mache galore!!!

The prep students have been super busy using magicaly! This awesome resource which is a combination of playdough/plasticine, has helped us to not only ice and decorate our cupcakes but it has helped our finemotor skills by rolling, squishing, cutting, pulling and using all our finger muscles. They look so tasty!!!!! Some of the cupcakes even have a little critter on top. (Ask your child about the story....and the cockroach)

The Grade 1/2s have shown amazing papier mache abilities. This isn't the easiest of tasks, but they have all shown persistence and teamwork. Helping each other when necessary and pushing through on our first layers of papier mache. I can't wait to see these fabulous creatures come to life!

MOOROOLBARK FESTIVAL COMPETITION TIME:

CALLING ALL COLOURING ENTHUSIASTS

The Mooroolbark Festival, Celebrate Mooroolbark March 19th and 20th,  is having a community competition as part of their festival this year with prizes to be won. They would love local schools to be a part of the festivities.

If you fancy yourself a champion colour inner-er, why not enter the festival colouring competition designed by local artist Joanne Everard from Jo’s Desktop.

Head to the link https://celebratemooroolbark.com/colouring-competition/ to find your printable PDF, fill in your details, colour to your hearts delight then drop off at either Methven's Mooroolbark or the Mooroolbark library branch between the 4th-18th of March to be in the draw to win or you can visit The Terrace during the festival and hand it in or colour in on the day.

There are tones of great prizes on offer, you can also visit The Terrace during the festival to vote for your favourite artist. Who knows, you could even win the people's choice award…!

If you would like a printed colouring in sheet, I will have some in the art room for you.

Happy Colouring!

Have a wonderful week!

Keep Creating!
