Religious Dimension

First Sunday in Lent                             Luke 4: 1-13

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert, for forty days being put to the test by the devil. During that time he ate nothing and at the end he was hungry.

Then the devil said to him, 'If you are Son of God, tell this stone to turn into a loaf.' But Jesus replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone.'

Together at St John's, we started our Lenten season with a Community Mass on Ash Wednesday. All of our classes from Prep to Year 5 celebrated together with the parishioners and Father Dispin. This was a valuable experience for all of our students especially as they have not been together in the Church to celebrate for some time.  It was wonderful to see the church so full with both students and parishioners combined. Our Year 6 students celebrated their own Ash Wednesday Liturgy while on Camp.

We give thanks for seeing so many people gather together as we had the ashes marked on our foreheads as a reminder that we are not alone.  Jesus walks beside us and our teachers reminded us of this as they marked our foreheads and said,  "Turn back to God".

First Eucharist Commitment Mass

On Sunday, 27 February, our Year 4 students came to Sunday Mass to honor their commitment as they prepare for receiving the sacrament of First Eucharist next Month.

Please keep our Year 4 students in your prayers during this time. The First Eucharist celebration will be on Saturday, 2 April, at 12pm at St John's Church

Many thanks,
