Division Tee Ball

Division Tee Ball

Last Friday 29/7/22, the Tee Ball boys participated in the Division Finals at the Softball grounds at Jells Park. The boys worked consistently hard throughout the season to make it to this very important stage. They were accompanied by their coaches Ms Deb and Mrs Ithier who were so proud of their efforts.

The boys played 3 games against Pinewood Primary School and 2 teams from Mount View Primary School. They were able to score a win for their first game against Pinewood Primary! The next 2 games were extremely challenging for the boys but they held their heads high and persevered to continue to try their very best. Mount View won both games against SJV but our boys walked away with pride.

Our boys showed respect to the other teams by congratulating them on their win. Our team captain Michal spoke beautifully about the game and showed respect to the opponents.

Please have a read of some of our players’ experiences of the day:

As we exited the bus we could see our opponents, tough as nails. We were scared at first, but with enough dedication to the sport of Tee Ball, we knew we had a chance. Our first game was against Pinewood Primary School. We first observed them playing against the school of Mount View, and we expected for them to be a challenge, but it wasn’t as scary playing against them. We won the game against them, 10-2. We watched the Year 5 Mount View team practise and we could tell, they were insanely powerful batters. During our game, most of their batters could reach another playing court. Unfortunately, we lost against them. They played astonishingly well. After Mount View’s Year 5 team, we played against their Year 6 team. They played very similarly to the year 5 team, apart from the fact that they hit to the left side of the court. Our outfield was shocked the very moment they hit the ball. It’s like they could decide where the ball would land whenever they batted. We lost to them, yet it was a great experience to play against them and it was also great knowing that they made it to the next stage. After we finished the semi final match, we decided to play a friendly match against another team who was out. We left the court and went back to school, spreading joy amongst everyone.

Within the first few weeks of tee ball training for division, we were able to get back into the swing of things. We were all a bit rusty from our break but we all quickly got back into shape in no time. We were doing drills and strategizing new strategies, and in the end we picked out a good setup and a team leader. The Tee Ball team arrived at the softball grounds at Jells Park and started training for our upcoming game right away. After we had a little practice, we went to watch our upcoming opponents and observe their style of playing. The two schools were Pinewood Primary School and Mount View Primary School. Our upcoming opponent was Pinewood Primary School. We carefully observed the two teams, watching them hit giant blows after blows that reached all the way to other courts. We were up against Pinewood Primary School for our very first match in Division. Pinewood was very tough and had a couple of huge blows but in the end we ended up winning, 10-2. The next team was the Year 5 Mount View team. They were extremely hard to beat having a super strong backstop, first base and pitcher. We ended up losing 0-17. After losing against the Year 5 team we made it into the semifinals, we played the Year 6 team and again played a tough match. We gave it our all but still ended up losing to their excellent team. After we lost, we were eliminated from the division. We waited around for the bus to come pick us up and take us back to school. Overall, we all had a super fun time and learned a lot together from playing T-ball.

When we got to the tee ball oval we set up our equipment and started practising. Once we finished practising we went to the other half of the oval to play our first match. We won our first game 10-2. After our first match, we had a snack break and started playing our second match. The game was very tough and in the end we lost. Once we packed up all our equipment we went to play our last game. The winner made it to the finals but unfortunately we lost.

After our final game we had to wait for the bus. We had a little friendly game with another school and after the game we just practised and played around. Once the bus arrived we left to go back to SJV. Tee ball division was fun but very challenging as there were different rules compared to what we were used to. Apparently throwing the bat is only a warning and when you're on a base with two colors you can only stay on the right side.
