Library News

Each year, since 1945, the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Students will be completing book week activities in the classroom. The library will also be open on Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes for special book week activities.

This year we will be holding a dress up day and parade on Friday 26th August. Students are encouraged to come along dressed as their favourite book character. The parade will be held at 9:15am and we welcome families to come along and watch.

Lunchtime activities in the library will focus on two books - Blue Flower and  What do you call your Grandma?

Blue Flower

This is one of the CBCA shortlisted Picture Books of the Year.

'A young child describes her qualms about going to school and how hard she finds asking the teacher for help, how she feels shy about making friends, not being funny or a fast runner. But through her love of art, a conversation with her mother and her observations about nature she comes to see that being different might not be a bad thing after all.'

What Do You Call Your Grandma

This book is shortlisted in the category Book Of The Year: Early Childhood

'An inclusive picture book for grandparents everywhere.

In every country around the world are grandmas short and tall.

Though they go by different names, we love them one and all.'
