Year 11 2023 Subject Selection

Year 11 2023 Subject Selection

On Friday 22 July during periods 2 and 3, all year 10 students were given the opportunity to become further informed about their future VCE pathway. This was a follow up to the webinar that was presented to families on the evening of Wednesday 20th July.

The session began with Ms Goddard, Assistant to the Principal - Teaching and Learning, giving the cohort an overview of the VCE. Here, VCE (ATAR), VCE - VM and VCE - VPC were spoken about, giving students a fulsome understanding of the differences and of the pre-requisites. Ms Daunt, VCE Coordinator, picked up on the threads and gave more clarification to some components of the VCE and subject selection.

Ms O’Keefe, VET Coordinator, followed on by explaining VET studies and that anyone can include a VET in their VCE studies in 2023. Mr Spinks, Applied Learning Coordinator, continued with more details regarding the new VCE - VM and VPC.

After the gathering, students visited the six different subject areas they had previously selected, and listened to what the requirements of each subject was. It was wonderful listening to not only the teachers, but also to the insightful questions asked by the students. The buzz of student chatter was indicative of the interest and enthusiasm that the students have for their future selves.

Heartfelt thanks to all the teachers involved in the running of this special event, for all the time and preparation poured into creating informative and relevant information sessions. Particular gratitude is extended to Ms Goddard for the meticulous preparation and coordination of all parts of this most important aspect of the students' lives.

The next stage of the subject selection process is the individual mentoring that will take place in the coming weeks. Students are reminded to be mindful of all due dates - for VET, accelerated subjects and for submitting their online web preferences.

Wishing all our students the best outcome to their informed choices.
