Science and Engineering Challenge

Science and Engineering Challenge 2022

On the first day back this term, 22 stage 5 students travelled down to Western Sydney University (Kingswood Campus) to take part in a Science and Engineering Competition that is run by Newcastle University as part of their outreach program.

A total of eight different challenges were setup, with participating school entering eight teams to engage these challenges. Points were scored for each challenge so students could compare their solutions against other teams.

The finale of the day was to have each school’s Bridge Building team test their design, to destruction, in front of the whole crown. From the eight schools in attendance, our bridge engineers comfortably took the most weight, outperforming the bridge from Penrith Selective who were the overall winners of the day.

An enjoyable and engaging day was had by all.
