Science Talent Search

The Science Talent Search students for 2022 having been working hard on their projects for the competition and they have finally submitted them for judging. We would like to wish the following students all the best with their science projects:

Austin Voges - Year 7

Tvisha Amin - Year 8

Yug Soni - Year 9

Arun Sivaraman Rajalakshmi - Year 9

Alexander Tari - Year 9

Jamie Katic - Year 9

I would like to thank their parents for their support and encouragement of the students during this time.

Mousetrap Cars

In the Year 9 SEAL class students have been studying the laws of motion with Mr Lake. As part of this unit, they had to design a mousetrap car that would travel further than 5 metres in a straight line. When undertaking this design project, they needed to implement STEM principles of testing and then refining their design. The students had a great deal of fun and were able to apply their knowledge of the laws of motion.

First place went to Max Robbs and Oisin O’Riley who managed to break the 10-metre mark before their car decided to reverse back a few metres due to a small fault in their design. This has since been rectified.

Second place went to David Scott and Finn Malcolm, who used a gear system to produce a very slow but effective mouse trap car that came a very close second.
