Principal's Message

From the Principal
Thank you to all the parents who completed the School Satisfaction Survey. There were a number of very affirming comments, as well as suggestions for school improvement. This survey helps inform the school for its ongoing planning and the data is also used in our Annual School Report for the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA).
A reminder that the last day of term, Friday 27th September, will be a pupil free day. The staff will be trained in a new administration software package, COMPASS. Into the future this will incorporate: student attendance and absentee notification, student reports, parent communication and much more.
As you would be aware the school begins each day with a 2 hour English (Literacy) Block. Instrumental practices in this block are: Guided Reading, Learning Intentions and Success Criteria, VCOP, Gradual Release of Responsibility leading to independent work and collaborative work between the students. I encourage you to discuss these terms and practices with your children so we develop a common language for learning from Kindergarten to Year 6 and between home and school.
The cartoon below is probably how all the parents at the school were educated. Thankfully we are heading in a very different direction.
